1-Day Lake Ziway Birdwatching Adventure from Addis Ababa

The Lake Ziway Birdwatching and Photography Adventure begins early from Addis Ababa, covering approximately 160 km one way and taking around 3 hours through Bishoftu, Koka, Meki, and the scenic Ethiopian Rift Valley. Located at about 1,636 meters above sea level, Lake Ziway is a beautiful freshwater lake and an excellent destination for birdwatching and wildlife photography. Upon arrival, enjoy early-morning photography around the lakeshore and jetty, where you may capture flamingos, pelicans, African Fish Eagles, storks, herons, egrets, kingfishers, and other waterbirds. A boat excursion provides excellent opportunities to photograph birds on the water, around islands, and at roosting sites. After lunch, continue afternoon birdwatching along the wetlands and shoreline, focusing on bird behavior and flight photography. End the day with beautiful golden-hour photographs before returning to Addis Ababa, completing approximately 320 km round trip.
