Day 1

Arrival in Arusha Tanzania

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport (ARK), you will be met by your safari guide and transferred to your lodge in Arusha. Spend the remainder of the day relaxing in the lush tropical gardens or by the outdoor pool, recovering from your journey and preparing for the upcoming safari.

Day 2

Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park

Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park

After breakfast, depart Arusha and drive to Lake Manyara National Park for a game drive. Nestled at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment, this park features a groundwater forest inhabited by baboons and monkeys, open grasslands surrounding the alkaline lake, and groundwater marshes. Keep an eye out for tree-climbing lions, large elephant herds, and flocks of flamingos along the water's edge. In the late afternoon, ascend the escarpment and head to Karatu for your overnight stay.

Day 3

Karatu to Western Serengeti National Park

Karatu to Western Serengeti National Park

Depart Karatu after breakfast and journey toward the Serengeti National Park, passing through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area highlands. As you descend onto the Serengeti plains, enter the Western Corridor region. During the May to early July window, the Great Migration moves through this sector as massive herds of wildebeest and zebras trek toward the Grumeti and Mbalageti River systems. Enjoy game viewing en route before arriving at your lodge perched above the valley.

Game Viewing in the Western Serengeti

Spend a full day exploring the Western Corridor and the Mbalageti/Grumeti River areas. This time of year provides prime opportunities to track the migrating herds as they congregate near river crossings. The dense vegetation along the rivers and open Musabi plains attract substantial predator populations, including large prides of lions, cheetahs, and giant Nile crocodiles waiting along the riverbanks. Return to the lodge in the late afternoon to catch the sunset over the valley.

Take a morning game drive out of the Western Corridor as you head east into the Central Serengeti (Seronera Valley). Seronera is renowned for year-round wildlife viewing due to its permanent water sources. Explore the granite kopjes (rock formations), acacia woodlands, and open river valleys that serve as prime habitats for leopards, lions, cheetahs, and diverse herbivores.

Central Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha

Set off early in the morning from the Serengeti and drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Descend 600 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater floor for a game drive inside this natural amphitheater. The crater floor shelters a dense population of wildlife, offering strong chances to spot the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and the rare black rhino) within a few hours. After a picnic lunch by the hippo pool, ascend the crater walls and drive back to Arusha or Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward departure flight.
