Your journey begins with a 12:00 noon ferry from Zanzibar to Dar es Salaam, crossing the Indian Ocean and leaving the islands behind as the Tanzanian mainland comes into view.

Upon arrival, you will be warmly welcomed by your Fondness Africa Safaris representative and transferred to Tiffany Diamond Hotel.

Depending on your arrival time and energy, the afternoon can be enjoyed at your own pace — relax at the hotel or choose our optional Dar es Salaam city experience. Discover selected highlights of this lively coastal city, experience its streets and local atmosphere, and see the fascinating blend of Swahili, African, Indian and colonial influences.

As Dar es Salaam disappears behind you, the scenery gradually transforms into rural Tanzania and vast natural landscapes. Travel in comfort by private 4x4 Land Cruiser towards Nyerere National Park, one of Tanzania’s great wilderness destinations. Arrive around midday, settle into your lodge and enjoy lunch before your first adventure.

In the afternoon, take to the waters of the Rufiji River for a memorable boat safari. Drift quietly through the waterways as hippos surface nearby, crocodiles bask along the banks and colourful birdlife fills the wetlands. With the afternoon sun creating beautiful golden reflections across the river, this is a spectacular introduction to Nyerere. Return to the lodge for dinner and your first peaceful night in the African bush.

Into the Wilderness – A Full Day of Wildlife Encounters

Today is dedicated entirely to discovering the wild heart of Nyerere National Park. After breakfast, set out with your private safari guide for a full-day game drive, with a picnic lunch allowing you to spend more time exploring the park without returning to the lodge.

Journey through open plains, woodland and riverine landscapes in search of elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest and antelopes. Keep watch for predators such as lions and leopards, while Nyerere also offers the exciting possibility of encountering the rare African wild dog.

Your experienced guide will follow tracks, wildlife movements and fresh sightings, creating opportunities for memorable encounters and photography. As the afternoon light softens, return to the lodge after a rewarding day immersed in Tanzania's wilderness.

Walk in the Wild – Bush Trails & a Golden Sunset Safari

After breakfast, leave the lodge for an unforgettable guided walking safari accompanied by an armed park ranger. Spend approximately 3–4 hours on foot, experiencing Nyerere National Park from a completely different perspective. Learn to identify animal tracks, plants, birds and other signs of wildlife while enjoying an intimate connection with the African bush.

After your walk, enjoy a relaxing picnic lunch before taking time to rest and refresh.

Later in the afternoon, set out for a sunset game drive as wildlife becomes more active in the cooler hours. Search for elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, lions and other wildlife while enjoying the changing colours of the African landscape. Return to the lodge for your final evening in Nyerere.

Culture, Community & Back to the Spice Island

After breakfast, check out and begin your final morning with a Maasai village experience. Meet members of the community and discover their traditional way of life, homes, customs and cultural traditions, gaining a deeper appreciation of Tanzania’s rich cultural heritage.

After the visit, enjoy lunch before beginning your road journey back to Dar es Salaam. Upon arrival, transfer to the ferry terminal for your return journey to Zanzibar. Relax aboard the ferry as you cross the Indian Ocean, bringing your Southern Tanzania adventure full circle.

Upon arrival in Zanzibar, our representative will meet you and provide a hotel drop-off, marking the end of your safari.
