Day 2

Leave Umbwe Cave Camp as the dense forest gradually gives way to open moorland. Climb toward Barranco Valley while enjoying dramatic views of the Western Breach appearing through the mountain mist. Arrive at Barranco Camp, set beneath Kilimanjaro’s impressive southern slopes, for dinner and overnight.

Day 3
Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
Start the day by climbing the famous Barranco Wall, an exciting scramble rewarded with spectacular mountain views. Continue across rocky terrain toward Karanga Valley beneath the Heim, Kersten and Decken glaciers. Reach Karanga Camp at around 3,930m, where you will rest and acclimatize overnight.

Day 4
Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
Depart Karanga and follow the trail toward the junction with the Mweka descent route before climbing to Barafu Camp at approximately 4,600m. Enjoy impressive views of Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. Spend the afternoon resting, having an early dinner and preparing your equipment for the midnight summit attempt.

Day 5
Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp

Begin your summit climb around midnight, ascending through steep scree toward Stella Point before continuing to Uhuru Peak at 5,895m, Africa’s highest point. Celebrate breathtaking sunrise views before descending via Barafu Camp toward Mweka Camp, where you will enjoy dinner and a well-earned rest.

Day 6
Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate
Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate
After breakfast, descend through the lush montane forest toward Mweka Gate. The lower trail may be wet and muddy as you return to warmer elevations. Upon reaching the gate, collect your Kilimanjaro summit certificate and celebrate your achievement before transferring back to your hotel for a relaxing rest.
