Climb Sirimon & Chogoria Route on Mount Kenya old moses campDepart Nairobi for trekking Mt

Arrive at lunch time then drive to Sirimon Park gate and trek for 3 – 4 hours to Old Moses Camp (Judmeier) through a beautiful forest with East African Pencil Cedar trees, Poducarpus trees and the giant Hygenia trees. From Judmaier camp you can see the summits of Batian and Nelion peaks: 9kms.

This is about a 6 – 8hour hike crossing Liki and Mackinders Mount Kenya Climbing
Routes, Sirimon, Naro Moru, Chogoria shipton camp mount kenya park valleys, there is a great view of Tereri and Sendeo peaks. And Also a great view of Nanyuki town and beautiful terrain. Shipton’s camp has also an excellent setting with the north faces of Nelion peak and Batian peak. 13kms.

We start early from Shipton’s Camp and ascend towards Point Lenana (5,895 m), the highest trekking point on Mount Kenya. We aim to reach the summit around sunrise, offering spectacular views of the surrounding peaks and valleys. After enjoying the summit and taking photos, we descend carefully to Mintos Camp (Halls Tarns). Here, we have breakfast, relax, enjoy the beautiful mountain scenery, and prepare for the next stage of our trek.

Today we embark on a rewarding 4.5-hour hike through some of the most spectacular mountain scenery. The trail passes through the dramatic Gorges Valley, peaceful alpine meadows, and the beautiful Halls Tarns. Along the way you’ll enjoy stunning views, with Lake Ellis visible in the distance. The hike offers a great mix of challenge and beauty, with plenty of photo stops to take in the fresh air, unique plants, and distant wildlife. Our guide will lead at a comfortable pace and share insights about the landscape. This day is perfect for nature lovers looking to experience the wild beauty of the mountains up close.

After reaching Chogoria Town, you’ll be transferred to Jomo Kenyatta Airport for your connection to Kilimanjaro International Airport in Moshi.

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Machame Gate for registration and to meet your mountain crew. Your trek begins through the lush rainforest, surrounded by towering trees, birdlife, and colobus monkeys. The trail is gradual but steady, and after approximately 5–6 hours of hiking, you arrive at Machame Camp for dinner and your first overnight in tents.

This is a key acclimatization day. You ascend toward Lava Tower (high altitude) before descending to Barranco Camp (lower altitude), following the “climb high, sleep low” principle. The terrain becomes more rugged with alpine desert scenery. After lunch near Lava Tower, you descend to Barranco Camp for dinner and overnight.

Upon arrival at Barafu, you will have an early dinner and rest in preparation for the summit attempt.

Your summit push begins just after midnight. You ascend slowly to Stella Point and continue to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point in Africa. After celebrating at the summit, you descend back to Barafu for a short rest, then continue down to Mweka Camp for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, you begin your final descent through the beautiful rainforest to Mweka Gate. The hike takes about 3-4 hours and the trail is much easier than the previous days. Along the way, enjoy the lush vegetation, towering trees, and the chance to spot monkeys, birds, and other forest wildlife. Upon arrival at Mweka Gate, you will be officially welcomed by park staff and receive your summit certificates to celebrate your Kilimanjaro achievement. From there, you will be transferred by vehicle back to your hotel for a well-deserved rest, a hot shower, and a celebratory dinner, marking the successful end of your Kilimanjaro adventure.
