Arrive in Addis Ababa, where you will be welcomed at the airport and transferred to your hotel. After check-in, enjoy time to relax and recover from your journey. Your guide will provide a briefing about the upcoming Omo Valley photographic expedition, including the route, cultural experiences, photography opportunities and practical information for the journey. Depending on your arrival time, there may also be an opportunity for a short introduction to Addis Ababa before returning to the hotel for an overnight stay. This arrival day provides a comfortable start before your domestic flight to Jinka and the cultural exploration of southern Ethiopia.

Day 2
Fly to Jinka and Visit Mursi
Fly to Jinka and Visit Mursi
After breakfast, transfer to Addis Ababa Airport for your domestic flight to Jinka in southern Ethiopia. Upon arrival, meet your local guide and travel by 4x4 toward Mago National Park and the Mursi area. Visit a Mursi village and experience the community's traditional way of life, distinctive cultural traditions and daily activities. This is an excellent opportunity for respectful cultural photography and interaction with local people. After the visit, return to Jinka for dinner and overnight accommodation. The day combines a scenic domestic flight, an introduction to the Omo Valley and your first major cultural photography experience.

After breakfast, leave Jinka and travel by 4x4 toward Turmi through the spectacular landscapes of the Omo Valley. Along the way, enjoy opportunities to photograph the changing scenery and traditional rural life. Upon arrival in the Turmi area, visit a Hamar community and experience their traditional lifestyle, village environment and daily activities. The Hamar are one of the most distinctive cultural groups of the Omo Valley, known for their traditions, colorful clothing and strong pastoral culture. Spend time respectfully observing and photographing village life before settling into your lodge for the evening.

Full-Day Hamar Photographic Experience
Full-Day Hamar Photographic Experience
Spend a full day exploring the Turmi area and experiencing Hamar culture and traditional village life. With your local guide, visit Hamar communities and spend time observing and photographing everyday activities, traditional clothing, pastoral life and the surrounding Omo Valley landscapes. The day is designed to allow a relaxed pace for cultural photography and respectful interaction with local people. If a traditional Hamar ceremony or cultural event is taking place during your visit, your guide will help arrange the visit where possible, subject to local availability and permission. Return to Buska Lodge for dinner and overnight accommodation.

Visit a Karo community and learn about their traditional way of life, village environment, cultural traditions and relationship with the Omo River. The Karo are well known for their distinctive body painting and cultural traditions, providing excellent opportunities for respectful cultural photography. Spend time exploring the area and photographing the landscapes and daily life before settling into the campsite for the evening.

After breakfast, continue by 4x4 through the remote landscapes of the lower Omo Valley toward the Nyangatom and Dassanech areas. Along the way, enjoy opportunities to photograph the changing scenery and traditional pastoral landscapes. Visit local communities and learn about their traditional lifestyles, cultural practices and daily activities. Continue toward Omorate and explore the surrounding area near the Omo River, where you can experience the distinctive culture of the Dassanech people. Spend the evening at a local village campsite, enjoying a simple and authentic Omo Valley experience before dinner and overnight.

Upon arrival, explore the remarkable Konso cultural landscape, known for its traditional villages, terraced hillsides and distinctive cultural heritage. Enjoy opportunities for cultural and landscape photography before checking in to your lodge for dinner and overnight accommodation.

Konso, Arba Minch and Dorze Village
Konso, Arba Minch and Dorze Village
After breakfast, continue exploring the Konso cultural landscape and its traditional terraced hillsides before traveling to Arba Minch. From Arba Minch, drive into the nearby Dorze highlands to visit a traditional Dorze village. Experience the distinctive Dorze culture, traditional houses, weaving traditions and daily village life while enjoying excellent opportunities for cultural and landscape photography. After the visit, return to Arba Minch and check in at your resort for dinner and overnight accommodation. This is the final full day of cultural exploration before returning to Addis Ababa.

This marks the end of your 9-day Omo Valley photographic expedition, filled with memorable cultural encounters, traditional communities and spectacular landscapes across southern Ethiopia.
