Day 1

Zanzibar Island to Ndutu

Zanzibar Island to Ndutu

Fly from Zanzibar to the Ndutu area using the most suitable operating airstrip. On arrival, meet your safari guide and begin a relaxed afternoon game drive across the short-grass plains. The first drive focuses on assessing current conditions and locating the main wildlife concentrations, allowing the guide to follow the animals rather than yesterday’s sightings.

Settle into a seasonal camp ideally positioned for the calving season. Depending on rainfall, water, and fresh grazing, explore the Ndutu woodlands and surrounding plains while allowing time to reposition when herds are scattered.

Wildlife viewing and photography are conducted patiently and responsibly, without disturbing the animals. Return to camp before dark for dinner and a briefing on the latest field information and plans for the following morning. Photographers can discuss light, vehicle positioning, and time needed with each subject.

Day 2

Ndutu Area

Ndutu Area

Start early with a dawn game drive and breakfast boxes, or enjoy breakfast at camp before heading out. Explore the open plains and woodland edges in search of nursery herds, predators, and the quieter wildlife interactions often missed when vehicles move too quickly. Your guide maintains a respectful distance from mothers and young calves, allowing natural behavior to continue undisturbed.

The route remains flexible throughout the day, responding to recent wildlife movements, water, and fresh grazing. Explore both the Ndutu woodlands and wider plains, with enough time to reposition when herds are scattered. A midday rest at camp can be included before a second game drive when the afternoon light softens.

Day 3

Southern Serengeti and Lake Ndutu

Southern Serengeti and Lake Ndutu

Spend a second full day exploring Ndutu, adapting the route to rainfall, fresh grass, and herd movements. Venture beyond the busiest tracks whenever conditions allow, using your private safari vehicle to enjoy longer, unhurried stops for wildlife observation and photography.

Calving is seasonal and cannot be guaranteed on a specific date, but two full days in the area offer greater opportunities to witness wildebeest herds, newborn calves, and predator activity. Your guide will explore both the Ndutu woodlands and open plains, allowing flexibility to follow changing wildlife movements.

Photography and observation are conducted patiently and responsibly, maintaining a respectful distance from the animals. Return to camp before dark for dinner and a briefing on the latest field conditions. Photographers can discuss light direction, vehicle positioning, and time needed at each subject. After the game drive, ascend to your lodge in the highlands and enjoy a relaxed evening. Dinner will be served at the lodge, avoiding a late transfer and allowing you to rest after an exciting day of wildlife viewing.

After breakfast, enjoy a relaxed departure from the Ngorongoro Highlands and drive back to Arusha. If flight time permits, stop for lunch or local shopping before continuing to Arusha Airport for your confirmed flight to Zanzibar.

The day is intentionally kept light after several wildlife-filled days, avoiding the addition of another rushed park visit. Your guide will confirm the flight schedule, airstrip, check-in requirements, and any suitable stops along the way, ensuring a comfortable and punctual journey.

Upon arrival in Zanzibar, continue with your road transfer to your chosen coastal destination. Transfer time will depend on your location and traffic conditions.
