Day 1

Your Mount Meru adventure begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel in Arusha. Drive to Momella Gate inside Arusha National Park, where you complete registration and meet your mountain crew and park ranger. The trek begins through open grasslands and forest, offering opportunities to encounter wildlife such as giraffes, buffaloes, warthogs and a variety of birds. As you continue climbing, the landscape changes into beautiful montane forest with giant trees and lush vegetation. You may also spot black-and-white colobus monkeys along the trail. After several hours of steady walking, arrive at Miriakamba Hut at approximately 2,500 metres. Enjoy dinner and relax in the mountain hut while preparing for the next day's ascent.

Day 2
Miriakamba Hut – Saddle Hut
Miriakamba Hut – Saddle Hut
After breakfast, begin the second day's climb toward Saddle Hut at approximately 3,570 metres. The trail becomes steeper as you ascend through montane forest before entering the giant heather and moorland zone. Along the way, enjoy changing views of Mount Meru's crater, surrounding valleys and the dramatic volcanic landscape. After approximately 3–5 hours of trekking, arrive at Saddle Hut and have lunch while enjoying the mountain atmosphere. In the afternoon, take an optional acclimatization hike toward Little Meru, reaching about 3,820 metres. This short climb provides spectacular panoramic views and helps your body adjust to the increasing altitude. Return to Saddle Hut for dinner, a briefing with your guide and an early rest before the midnight summit attempt.

Day 3
Saddle Hut – Socialist Peak – Miriakamba Hut

Summit day begins around midnight with a light snack and hot tea before starting the climb. Using headlamps, trek toward Rhino Point and continue along the spectacular crater rim toward Cobra Point and Socialist Peak. The trail becomes steeper and more challenging, with rocky and exposed sections requiring careful footing. As dawn approaches, reach Socialist Peak at approximately 4,566 metres, the highest point of Mount Meru. Celebrate your achievement while enjoying sunrise views across the volcanic crater and, when conditions are clear, Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance. After spending time at the summit, begin the descent toward Saddle Hut for breakfast and a short rest. Continue descending through the moorland and forest until you reach Miriakamba Hut for your final night on the mountain.

Day 4

After breakfast, begin your final descent from Miriakamba Hut toward Momella Gate. The trail passes through lush montane forest before gradually opening into the lower grasslands of Arusha National Park. Keep your eyes open for wildlife and birds, as the descent can provide another opportunity to see giraffes, buffaloes, warthogs and monkeys. After approximately 2–4 hours of walking, arrive at Momella Gate and complete the park formalities. Receive your Mount Meru summit certificate before saying farewell to your mountain crew. Your private vehicle will then drive you back to Arusha, where you can relax at your hotel and celebrate the successful completion of your Mount Meru adventure.
