Arusha – Momella Gate – Miriakamba Hut

Your Mount Meru adventure begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel in Arusha. Drive to Momella Gate in Arusha National Park, where you complete registration and meet your mountain crew and ranger. Begin trekking through open grasslands and montane forest, with opportunities to see wildlife such as giraffes, buffaloes, warthogs and colorful birds. The trail gradually climbs through lush forest, where you may encounter black-and-white colobus monkeys. Continue toward Miriakamba Hut at approximately 2,500 metres, enjoying changing views of the surrounding landscapes along the way. After reaching the hut, settle in, enjoy dinner and rest for the challenging ascent ahead.

Miriakamba Hut – Saddle Hut – Socialist Peak

Begin early with breakfast before trekking toward Saddle Hut at approximately 3,570 metres. The trail becomes steeper as you pass through forest and enter the giant heather and moorland zone, with impressive views of Mount Meru's crater and surrounding valleys. After reaching Saddle Hut, take a short rest and prepare for the summit attempt. Continue toward Socialist Peak, ascending through rocky terrain along the crater rim. At 4,566 metres, reach the summit and enjoy spectacular views across the crater and, on clear days, Mount Kilimanjaro. After celebrating your achievement, descend to Saddle Hut for a short break before continuing to Miriakamba Hut for dinner and overnight rest.

Miriakamba Hut – Momella Gate – Arusha

After breakfast, begin your final descent from Miriakamba Hut toward Momella Gate. Follow the trail through beautiful montane forest before emerging into the open landscapes of Arusha National Park. Keep watch for wildlife and birds along the way, as the lower slopes can offer excellent opportunities for sightings. Continue gradually downhill until you reach Momella Gate, where you complete the park exit procedures and receive your Mount Meru summit certificate. Meet your vehicle and begin the scenic drive back to Arusha. Arrive at your hotel in the afternoon, marking the end of your memorable three-day Mount Meru trekking adventure.
