Your Namibian desert adventure begins with a scheduled shuttle transfer from Windhoek to the coastal town of Swakopmund, a journey of a few hours across changing landscapes as the interior gives way to the Atlantic coastline. Swakopmund is known for its distinctive German colonial architecture, relaxed seaside atmosphere and array of adventure activities. On arrival you check in to your hotel for a two-night stay, with the remainder of the day free to explore the town's shops, restaurants and promenade at your own pace, or simply relax after your journey from the capital.

A full day at leisure in Swakopmund allows you to enjoy this charming coastal town nestled between the Atlantic Ocean and the Namib Desert. Optional activities can be arranged at an additional cost, such as a scenic Dolphin Cruise along the coast to spot marine life including dolphins, seals and seabirds, or an exhilarating Sandwich Harbour 4x4 excursion over towering dunes that plunge directly into the ocean. Alternatively, simply relax in town, sample local seafood, browse craft markets, or stroll along the jetty and beachfront promenade before your onward journey into the desert tomorrow.

Depart Swakopmund by shuttle and travel south into the heart of the Namib Desert, one of the oldest and driest deserts on earth, renowned for its towering red sand dunes and otherworldly landscapes. Arrive at your lodge near Solitaire, on the edge of the Namib-Naukluft National Park, in time to settle in and enjoy the surrounding desert scenery. The remainder of the day is at leisure, giving you the chance to relax at the lodge, watch the changing colours of the dunes at sunset, or explore the immediate surroundings before your full-day dune excursion tomorrow.

A full guided day excursion takes you deep into the Namib-Naukluft National Park to explore its most iconic sights. Visit Sossusvlei, home to some of the highest sand dunes in the world, and Deadvlei, an ancient clay pan dotted with the blackened, centuries-old skeletons of camel thorn trees set against a backdrop of brilliant orange dunes and a stark white pan floor. Time permitting, you may also have the opportunity to climb Big Daddy, one of the tallest dunes in the area, for sweeping panoramic views. Return to your lodge in the late afternoon to relax after a memorable day among the dunes.

After breakfast at the lodge, board your scheduled shuttle for the return journey from the Namib Desert back to Windhoek, bringing your memorable Namibian desert adventure to a close. Enjoy the final views of the changing scenery as you travel back through the desert and highlands towards the capital, reflecting on the contrasts between the Atlantic coast and the towering dunes experienced over the past five days. On arrival in Windhoek your tour ends, with onward travel arrangements to be made independently.
