Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Upon arrival at Arusha/JRO Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our safari guide and then driven to Tarangire National Park. The park is named after the Tarangire River, which flows through its heart and serves as a vital lifeline, especially during the dry season when it becomes an important refuge for wildlife, most notably elephants.
Characterized by massive baobab trees, sweeping plains, and lush riverine corridors, Tarangire is famous for its impressive elephant herds, offering a wild and authentic safari experience. The park is also a birdwatcher’s paradise, with over 500 recorded species. Other wildlife often seen on game drives includes lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, wildebeest, and more.

Enjoy a full-day game drive with a picnic lunch. Following a day of adventure, you’ll head straight to your accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay.

Starting at about 2,286 meters above sea level, you’ll descend roughly 610 meters to reach the crater floor, which sits at around 1,600 meters. This huge caldera, once an active volcano, now covers about 304 square kilometers and spans nearly 19 kilometers.

More than 30,000 animals live here year-round. This is one of the few places in Africa where you might see all of the "Big Five" together, as well as ostriches, hippos, hyenas, warthogs, flamingos, and zebras. Ngorongoro Crater is also one of the best places in the world to spot the endangered black rhino in the wild. The only animal you won’t find here is the giraffe.

After a full day of spotting wildlife, you’ll return to your lodge for a relaxing dinner and a restful night.
