Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale

Your chimpanzee safari begins with a hearty breakfast, after which your driver will pick you up from your hotel and set off for Kibale National Park, one of the best places in Africa to track chimpanzees. The journey is scenic and rewarding, offering beautiful views of Uganda’s countryside along the way.

On arrival at Kibale, you can relax at your lodge. Later, you’ll head out for a guided forest walk through Bigodi Swamp, a community-managed wetland sanctuary renowned for its rich biodiversity. Bird lovers will be delighted by the variety of species found here, while primate sightings often include blue monkeys, red colobus monkeys, olive baboons, red-tailed monkeys, vervet monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, and grey-cheeked mangabeys. With some luck, you may also spot wildlife such as bushbucks, sitatunga antelopes, bush pigs, otters, or even chimpanzees.

As Bigodi is a swampy habitat, sturdy walking shoes are highly recommended.

After breakfast, you’ll set out for your chimpanzee trekking adventure in Kibale Forest National Park. The forest is rich in towering trees, colorful flowers, butterflies, and an array of wildlife. The highlight of the trek is, of course, a close encounter with chimpanzees in their natural habitat—a truly unforgettable experience.

After your trek, you will begin the journey back to Kampala or Entebbe Airport, marking the end of your chimpanzee safari in Uganda.
