Day 1

Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met by Across the Wild Safaris and depart on a scenic drive north toward the rugged landscapes of Samburu National Reserve. Set along the banks of the Ewaso Ng’iro River—opposite Buffalo Springs National Reserve

Samburu offers dramatic scenery and exceptional wildlife. Its rich in conservation history and is renowned for rare, northern-special species such as the long-necked gerenuk, Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, and Beisa oryx. Predators, including the elusive leopard, are often spotted, especially in the cooler evening hours. Samburu is also one of the few areas where both the Big Five and the Small Five may be encountered.

Arrive in time for lunch and check in at Samburu Simba Lodge. Later, enjoy an afternoon game drive along the riverine habitats before returning to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay, surrounded by the sounds of the African wilderness.

Spend a full day exploring the unique landscapes and wildlife of Samburu National Reserve with Across the Wild Safaris.

Begin the day with an early morning game drive, the best time to spot predators and wildlife as they emerge with the rising sun. Return to the lodge for breakfast, followed by a relaxed morning at leisure or an optional visit to a Samburu Cultural Village for an authentic insight into local traditions and way of life.

Return to the lodge for lunch, then enjoy coffee or tea as you unwind during the heat of the day. Later in the afternoon, head out for another rewarding game drive along the Ewaso Ng’iro River, where elephants, lions, leopards, and the reserve’s rare northern species are often seen. As the sun sets, return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay, concluding a rich and immersive day in Samburu.

Day 3

Samburu to Lake Nakuru National Park

After breakfast, depart Samburu and journey south to Lake Nakuru National Park, one of Kenya’s premier parks and a true birdlover’s paradise, set within the dramatic landscapes of the Great Rift Valley. The park is famed for its flamingos, rich birdlife, and thriving rhino sanctuary, offering excellent wildlife viewing in a compact setting.

Arrive in time for lunch and check in at Ziwa Bush Lodge, then enjoy some time to relax and take in the serene surroundings. At 3:30 pm, gather in the lobby for afternoon coffee or tea before heading out at 4:00 pm for a rewarding game drive. Explore the lakeshore and acacia woodlands in search of rhinos, giraffes, buffalo, and a wide variety of bird species.

Return to the lodge in the early evening for dinner and an overnight stay, concluding a well-paced day of scenic travel and wildlife discovery.
