Pick-up and Transfer to Bwindi National Park

Hopefully, your flight is scheduled for an early-morning landing in Uganda. Your safari will start from your hotel in Entebbe or the airport where you will be picked up by your professional driver-guide. You will be briefed about the tour before you depart for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a big habitat for mountain gorillas in Uganda and harbors a number of them, more reason why it should be your safari destination. The drive will take you to southwest Uganda by road. You will cross the Equator line, then head to Mbarara for lunch. Continue through the savannah grasslands to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The scenic drive through the Kigezi Highlands (commonly referred to as “the Switzerland of Uganda”) takes you to the gorilla sanctuary of Bwindi NP.

On arrival in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, you will check in at your accommodation and relax as you prepare for the Bwindi gorilla trekking experience the next day.

Gorilla Trekking and Afternoon Batwa Experience

After an early breakfast and a briefing by a ranger guide, you will enter the gorilla sanctuary for your adventure. The beauty of this rainforest is spectacular! The area offers a dramatic, steeply-forested landscape and is incredibly dense but crisscrossed by numerous animal trails, allowing access to tourists. The time taken and the terrain vary with the movements of these great primates. Once you locate a gorilla group, you will be allowed an hour in their presence. The thrill of spending time observing these gentle and endangered giants is an awesome, exciting experience to be long-savored.

On your return to the lodge, you will have lunch if you did not have it in the park. You will then head out for the Batwa cultural experience where you will be entertained with traditional dances and songs. Listen to stories on how these Batwa people used to hunt and live in the park. After this experience, you will retire to your lodge for an overnight stay.

Exit Bwindi to Kampala or Entebbe International Airport

Today you set off on your journey to Entebbe Airport or your accommodation. Expect en-route stopovers in Mbarara town and the Uganda Equator line mark in Kayabwe for some memorable photos (if you didn’t stop on the first day). You can also stop to buy some interesting art pieces. You will arrive in the late afternoon/evening for drop-off at the airport or your accommodation (own booking).
