Arrival in Arusha

On arrival at Kilimanjaro airport, you will be picked up by your Abuu's Tanzania tours driver-guide and transferred to Zawadi House Lodge for dinner and overnight stay. Arusha is a major international diplomatic hub. It hosts the East African Community. From 1994 to 2015, the city also hosted the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda, but that entity has ceased operations. It is a multicultural city with a majority Tanzanian population of mixed backgrounds.

Lake Manyara National Park

You'll depart from Arusha in the morning and begin the short 2-hour drive through a changing landscape toward Lake Manyara National Park. You will enter Lake Manyara National Park and enjoy game drives in this very diverse park. If you are lucky, you may see the famous tree-climbing lions. A picnic lunch in the bush will be followed by game drives until mid-afternoon. Then, slowly make your way out of the park and transfer to Karatu, the gateway to the Ngorongoro.

Ngorongoro Crater

Early in the morning, you will depart from your lodge and head to Ngorongoro. After passing the park gate, you will descend into the crater for game drives. There are 25,000 large mammals residing in the park. The elephants are mainly bulls, females stay out of the park due to it boasting the largest predator population in Africa. Black rhinos also make their home on the grassy plains. Their numbers make up almost half of what can still be found in East Africa; about 20 in total. You'll leave the crater in the early afternoon and slowly transfer back to Arusha.
