Mikumi Game Drive

Your day begins with an early morning pickup at 05:00 AM from your hotel in Dar es Salaam, or alternatively, directly from Julius Nyerere International Airport for those arriving early. After a short briefing, you'll embark on a scenic 6 to 7-hour drive to Mikumi National Park, traveling along the Morogoro road with opportunities to enjoy the changing landscapes—from bustling towns to lush countryside. Around midday, you’ll arrive in the Mikumi area and stop for a hot lunch at a restaurant near the park, giving you a chance to stretch!

Upon arrival at the Mikumi National Park gate, you'll complete park entry formalities before beginning a late afternoon game drive. This is the perfect time to spot a variety of animals as they become more active in the cooler hours. Expect to see elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, wildebeests, and possibly lions and leopards, all set against the stunning backdrop of the Mkata floodplain. As the sun begins stay at the cottages.

Mikumi Full Game Drive

After an early breakfast at Camp Bastian, you'll depart with packed lunches for a full-day game drive inside Mikumi National Park. The day is dedicated to exploring the park's diverse wildlife, with a focus on spotting the big cats—including lions and elusive leopards. You'll also visit the hippo pools where hippos and crocodiles can be seen basking or wading. The open savannah and acacia woodlands provide ideal viewing opportunities.

In the afternoon, you'll pause at a scenic picnic site within the park to enjoy your packed lunch surrounded by nature. Afterward, the game drive continues through different areas of the park, increasing chances of encountering elephants, zebras, wildebeests, and birdlife. As the day winds down, you'll return to Camp Bastian for dinner and overnight, relaxing after an exciting day on safari.

Maasai Tour-Dar es Salaam

After an early breakfast at 06:00 AM, you’ll begin your day with a 1.5-hour Maasai cultural tour, offering a unique opportunity to learn about the traditions, lifestyle, and daily activities of the Maasai people through engaging stories, dance, and a visit to their boma (homestead). After the cultural experience, you’ll begin your journey back to Dar es Salaam, with packed lunches provided for the road.

The drive will continue through the scenic Uluguru Mountains and rural villages, providing a glimpse into everyday Tanzanian life. You’ll arrive in the evening at either the airport or ferry terminal, depending on your onward travel plans.
