Game viewing drives in this dry and scenic game reserve are concentrated along the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro river. This is where most wildlife is found. The park is a haven for elephants, predators and the famous Special Five, the reserve is a perfect destination for wildlife and safari lovers and one of the biggest and most exciting reasons to visit Samburu national reserve are the quasi-endemic species found here that have adapted to the more arid and desert life such as the Gerenuk antelope - also known as the giraffe gazelle, is a long-necked, medium-sized antelope.
The best time to view wildlife is early morning and late in the afternoon once the the sunrays cool off.
