Masai Mara National Reserve
After breakfast at your lodge, you will traverse the Rift Valley and ascend its western rim into the Maasai land. Red-clad, with spears Maasai warriors, tend to their herds of cattle among the wildlife, admirably unmoved by the presence of large predators. The most spectacular feature in the Mara is the annual migration of wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles from the plains of Serengeti that cross the Tanzanian border and rivers to reach Mara’s grasslands from late June, tracked by predators and circled by vultures as the journey unfolds. You'll arrive in time for lunch at your lodge. In the afternoon, you will depart for a game drive in search of wildlife. You will stay overnight at Mara Sopa Lodge on a full-board basis.

You will go on morning and afternoon game drives in this spectacular game reserve, with superb photographic opportunities. Apart from the seasonal migration, game-viewing is excellent all year-round. It is perhaps the only region left in Kenya where you will see animals in the same super-abundance that existed a century ago. The game includes elephants, black rhinos, buffalos, wildebeests, Burchell’s zebras, hartebeests, antelopes, gazelles, lions, leopards, giraffes, cheetahs, hippos, crocodiles, and much more. Today you may visit a Maasai Village (price not included) for an exceptional cultural experience. You'll see how they interact with modern society and how they use local plants in ceremonial and medicinal ways. You will stay overnight at Mara Sopa Lodge on a full-board basis.
