Day 1

Have breakfast at the hotel and later depart to Maasai Mara National Reserve. Upon arrival in the park, you will have an en-route game drive heading to the lodge, for check in and lunch. Then you will have an evening game drive. Later, return to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay. An exploratory drive around the 1,792sq km game park with its low hills and savannah-type rolling grasslands, gallery forest on the Mara River and its tributaries. Get introduced to the herbivores; elephants, rhinos, buffalo, the variety of antelopes, the Masai giraffes and the Burchell zebras. The carnivores are the black-maned lion, cheetah and leopard. Also to be seen are the largest birds, the Masai ostrich, the secretary bird, the crested crane and saddle-billed stork. Crocodiles and hippos share the river. Dinner and your overnight stay are at Miti Mingi Eco Camp.

You can take the optional early morning balloon safari ride (US$450.00 per person ), across the Maasai Mara plains. Have breakfast at the lodge then enjoy morning and afternoon game drives. Masai Mara is an extension of the Serengeti ecosystem to the south. Game abounds here. The Mara is noted for its abundance of lions particularly the superb black-maned males. It is where the great migration of over 1.5 million wildebeest and other antelopes cross the mighty Mara River. You are also likely to see lots of elephants here often in large herds and if you're lucky, leopard, cheetah and rhino. All of the Big Five are residents. You're sure to see the African buffalo. Get the cameras ready, stock up on film/tapes, and enjoy yourselves! In the evening, visit the Maasai village. Dinner and your overnight stay are at Miti Mingi Eco Camp.

Lake Manyara National Park is a small but scenic safari park, excellent for bird watching and a good area to find elephants as well as the potential excitement of spotting the legendary Lake Manyara tree-climbing lions. Lake Manyara is a good soft introduction to the safari experience in Tanzania. It is a magical and pretty park that winds its way around a mainly forested driving route between the banks of the soda water lake and the impressive rise of the Great Rift escarpment.
Elephants, giraffes, buffalo, and wildebeest can be found grazing in unexpected clearings or heading towards the water to drink or wash. The rivers and riverbeds provide scenic vistas for possible animal spotting.

This land is justifiably famous for its huge concentrations of wildlife, especially the big cats, as well as for being the stomping ground of the Great Migration. This is a massive accumulation of 1.5 million wildebeest, 200,000 zebras and 350,000 gazelles stretching their legs over 1,200 miles in an annual race to find enough water and green grass for their survival. The park is broadly divided into three distinct areas, the Seronera Valley and Seronera River, the Western Corridor and the Northern Lobo area that extends northwards through the Lamai Wedge to the Masai Mara.

Today you will wake up, have your early breakfast and drive to Ngorongoro Crater. Explore the conservancy with morning and afternoon game drives visiting the crater. With walls 2,000 ft high and a crater floor that spreads for 102sq miles, the crater is a virtual Noah's Ark. Its inhabited by almost every species of wildlife indigenous to East Africa including the rare black rhino. In fact, the crater has the greatest concentration of wildlife on the planet. It contains a river, several swamps, a soda lake that, from the top, looks like steam, full of flamingoes, a forest, and open plains. The large bull elephants that reside here have extremely large tusks, due to the rich mineral content of the volcanic soil and its grasses. They are the most incredible elephants you'll ever see in your life. After lunch, you will depart to Arusha, where you will be transferred to the airport for your home flight.
