Spend a Whole Game Drive in Serengeti

Today you will spend the entire day game viewing in the Serengeti. The Serengeti is famed for its annual migration when approximately 1.5 million wildebeest move en-masse throughout the Serengeti and Maasai Mara ecosystems, accompanied by hundreds of thousands of zebras and gazelles (and their hungry predators!), making a total of over two million migrating animals. The Serengeti arguably offers the most astonishing game viewing in Africa! Your guide will do his utmost to ensure you have the best experience possible according to the time of year you are traveling.

Early evening, proceed to your accommodation, where you can sip a sun downer and review the day’s excitement while enjoying the sounds of the bush around you.

Make Your Way to the Ngorongoro Area

Enjoy an early breakfast before you begin your drive to the Ngorongoro Crater for what promises to be one of the highlights of this safari! The Ngorongoro Crater, created by the collapse of a volcano over two million years ago, is home to an amazing abundance of wildlife and, in particular, the Big Five!

You will descend more than 600 meters (about 2,000 feet) to the crater floor, where you will explore the forest areas inhabited by monkeys and elephants; the lake area, where you might have the chance of seeing some flamingos; and the open savanna, where the lions hunt for food. If you are very lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of the elusive black rhino! Lunch will be near the hippo pool, after which you will continue with your game viewing until late afternoon when you will head to your lodge in Karatu for your last night on the safari circuit.
