Windhoek to Namib Desert

Departure: 06:00 AM from Windhoek Truck Port

Your adventure begins early in the morning as you depart Windhoek and travel south toward the Namib Desert. The journey takes you through the scenic Khomas Hochland mountains and vast open landscapes.

Along the way there will be scenic stops for photos of Namibia’s dramatic desert scenery. You will pass through remote landscapes before arriving in the Sossusvlei area.

After check-in at your lodge, you can relax and enjoy the peaceful desert environment. In the late afternoon the soft desert light creates beautiful photography conditions for capturing the surrounding dunes and desert wildlife.

Sossusvlei, Deadvlei & Sesriem Canyon

An early departure allows you to enter Namib-Naukluft National Park shortly after sunrise when the dunes glow in deep red and orange colors.

Photography highlights of the day include:

• Dune 45 – one of the most photographed dunes in Namibia
• Big Daddy Dune – one of the highest dunes in the world
• Deadvlei – famous white clay pan with ancient dead camelthorn trees
• Sossusvlei salt pan surrounded by towering dunes

The contrast between the red dunes, white clay and black tree silhouettes creates spectacular photography opportunities.

After exploring the dunes, continue to Sesriem Canyon, a natural gorge carved by the Tsauchab River over thousands of years.

Later in the afternoon you begin the scenic drive toward the Atlantic coast via Gaub Pass and Kuiseb Canyon, reaching the coastal town of Swakopmund.

Sandwich Harbour 4x4 Adventure

After breakfast, your guide will transfer you to Walvis Bay, where today’s adventure focuses on one of Namibia’s most spectacular natural wonders — Sandwich Harbour.

This exciting 4x4 dune excursion takes you along the Atlantic coastline into the heart of the Namib Sand Sea, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Sandwich Harbour is famous for its dramatic scenery where the giant sand dunes of the Namib Desert plunge directly into the Atlantic Ocean, creating one of the most breathtaking landscapes in Africa.

Swakopmund to Windhoek (Departure)

Enjoy a relaxed morning in Swakopmund, where you may take a short walk through the town, visit nearby cafés, or simply enjoy the fresh Atlantic coastal atmosphere before departure, At 13:00 (1:00 PM), you will depart from Swakopmund and begin the journey back to Windhoek. The drive takes you through the scenic desert landscapes and mountain passes of central Namibia. You will arrive in Windhoek in the late afternoon, where you will be dropped off at the Truck Port or your accommodation, marking the end of your memorable 4-Day Sossusvlei, Deadvlei & Sandwich Harbour Photography Shared Tour.
