Arrival at the Affordable Game Lodge in Balule Game Reserve

You can be picked up from OR Tambo Airport in the early morning at 7:00 am sharp. Hoedspruit Airport pick-up is included at any time of the day (which is the closest airport to the lodge).

Please book arrival flights accordingly to ensure you have enough time.

When we arrive at the affordable game lodge (your first night is at a different lodge), rest in your air-conditioned room, swim in the pool, or view the grounds around the lodge. Later that afternoon, you will go out on your first exciting Big Five sunset drive. Experienced game rangers will take you to amazing wildlife sightings and after this amazing drive; dinner will be a bush braai (traditional meal) at the Marula Tree Boma.

Balule Game Reserve to Treehouse Lodge

Awaken at sunrise for an exhilarating day of unforgettable bush life.

Drive to a remote part of the Balule Game Reserve, where you enjoy a bush walk. Your experienced field guide will lead you through the bush. The thrill of following Africa’s large animals until you can take a photo will remain with you forever. Adrenalin surges will be acute, notwithstanding the presence of your armed ranger.

Return to the affordable game lodge for brunch.

After high tea, go on an afternoon game drive. Then we'll transfer to the Treehouse Lodge where accommodation is in fascinating and romantic tree-houses.

Tree houses are not built in a tree, but a wooden cabin (mostly between trees), for the tree-house feel. Some are on the ground, others are elevated for the tree-house feel and you cannot choose which tree-house you get as they are group size dependent and some cater to single travellers or couples and others for families. Some units have en-suite others share bathrooms between a few units.

Kruger National Park Game Drive

Drive to the Orpen Gate of Kruger on a custom-built open-sided game viewer. You will have an opportunity to view the game without intervening glass windows and also listen to and smell the denizens of the bush. We have regular stops at picnic spots, restaurants and places of interest.

The Orpen-Satara-Nwandezi region's open plains attract large herds of zebra, giraffe and antelope that, in turn, attract many predators. In fact, this zone has the highest concentration of lions in Africa.

Visit the Animal Rehabilitation Centre and Motlala Private Reserve Game Drive

After breakfast, we will travel to the Moholoholo Rehabilitation Centre for injured and orphaned animals and birds.

You will have an opportunity to get close and personal with some of the residents, including lions and leopards.

After lunchtime, you will drive to the Treehouse Lodge.

Afterwards, have a sunset game drive at Motlala Game Reserve. Return to the Treehouse Lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.

Sunrise Bush Walk and Depart to Johannesburg via Panorama Route

Enjoy a sunrise walk.

After breakfast, drive via the Panorama Route to see the scenic splendours including the Three Rondawels and the Blyde River Canyon. We will return to Gauteng in the late afternoon.

Hoedspruit Airport drop-off by arrangement.

Please note the Three Rondawels stop is only included en-route to Johannesburg.

You should return back in Johannesburg between 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm, however, this time frame depends on traffic and the overall journey. It might be earlier or later.

Please book same day departure flights (local only from 20:00pm or later and international no earlier than 21h00pm).
