Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is home to both mountain gorillas and chimpanzees, making it the only forest in Africa with this distinction. Additionally, the forest hosts five other species of primates, 113 mammal species, over 200 butterfly species, and 360 bird species. This experience offers a unique opportunity to intimately observe Uganda's mountain gorillas, often referred to as the “gorillas in the mist.”

During your gorilla trek, you'll be assigned to one of nine habituated gorilla family groups, which are accustomed to human presence for a limited time each day. Your guide will help you spot signs of gorilla activity along the way, such as dung, nests, and chewed bamboo shoots.

The trek itself is an exciting journey through forested slopes, dense vines, bushes, and bamboo. It can last from 2-7 hours depending on the gorillas' location. Once you find a gorilla family, you'll have a maximum of one hour to observe and enjoy their presence.
