Drive to Tarangire National Park

Early in the morning, our driver will wait at your hotel for a 3-hour game drive to Tarangire National Park. Huge herds of wildebeest, zebra, elephant, eland, and oryx gather in Tarangire and stay until the onset of the rains. Then, in the late evening, drive back to the Highview Hotel or a similar bed-and-breakfast.

Drive to Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, drive to the Ngorongoro Crater for a half-day game drive inside the crater. This is undoubtedly the best place in Tanzania to see black rhinos, as well as a pride of lions that includes magnificent black-maned males. There are lots of colorful flamingos and a variety of waterbirds. Other game that you may see includes leopard, cheetah, hyena, other members of the antelope family, and small mammals. In the late afternoon, drive back to Highview Hotel or a similar hotel (FB).

Hike in the Southern Ngorongoro Conversation

Go on a morning hike in the Southern Ngorongoro Conservation Area to the elephant cave and waterfall. In the afternoon, visit the Iraq cultural center in Karatu to learn how the tribe protected their cattle from Maasai incursions using underground settlements. After a full day of activities, spend the night at Highview Hotel (FB).

Drive to Lake Manyara National Park

After breakfast, drive from the Highview Hotel to Lake Manyara National Park (about 30 minutes). After a picnic lunch in Manyara, start the afternoon game drive, the best time to see animals in this park. When you approach, the East Rift Valley escarpment looms on the horizon, forming an impressive backdrop to the lake. In the tall trees of the groundwater forest, monkeys leap from branch to branch; on the escarpment, elephants stand in the shade. Other animals you may see include zebras, impalas, monkeys, giraffes, buffalo, hippos, and more; in the late afternoon, drive back to your hotel in Arusha or depart.
