Kibale National Park
Kibale National Park
This morning you enter ‘the jungle’ for an encounter with one of the national park’s chimpanzee families, accompanied by a knowledgeable park guide. Kibale National Park is one of the best places in Africa to view chimpanzees in the wild and your “Chimpanzee Tracking” experience promises a very high likelihood of quality viewing of our primate cousins. This afternoon offers a drive with Justus through the surrounding Crater Lakes region and a visit to one or two of the region’s renowned plantations. There’s also the option to simply enjoy an afternoon enjoying the forest views (and sounds) from your cottage.

Here you’ll also find Kazinga Channel, a 32km/20mi long natural channel that links Lake Edward and Lake George. The channel is usually teeming with hippo and birdlife, which you’ll discover on a boat safari this afternoon.

Day 5
Queen Elizabeth National Park - South
Queen Elizabeth National Park - South
Your game viewing continues today as you travel south with Justus through the park to the Ishasha section, famous for its tree-climbing lions.
Despite the diversity of its wildlife - ranging from hundreds, sometimes thousands, of Ugandan kob antelope in the northern Kasenyi Plains, to chimps at Kyambura Gorge in the east, tree-climbing lions at Ishasha in the south and over 600 species of birds in between – Queen Elizabeth National Park is quiet and quite serene. True, the wildlife may not be as copious as some Kenyan or Tanzanian parks, but the Big Five are all here aside from rhinos.

Day 7
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Justus transfers you this morning to the starting point of your gorilla trek, where you meet your park ranger and can hire a porter to assist you along the way, should you wish. The trek can last between 1-5+ hours but is usually somewhere near the lesser time due to the rangers knowing the general location of the family that they have assigned you to visit.
This afternoon offers time to visit some of the community projects in the village as well as taking in the ambience of being in the unique environment of Equatorial East Africa - and perhaps enjoy a post-trek massage at the lodge's in-house spa.
While we understand the additional time/expense might not be practical, we always urge our travellers to extend their safari by an extra day in order to enjoy a second trek to a different gorilla family. You will most likely be here only once and by booking two treks, you are greatly increasing your chances of some once-in-a-lifetime quality time in the presence of these gentle giants.
