Welcome to Madagascar! Today you land at the international airport of Tana. After all formalities and money exchange your English-speaking tour guide will welcome you. You will then be transferred to your hotel, which is located near the airport. Ther rest of the day will be at your disposal.

Day 2

After breakfast, you will head to Ankafobe. The village of Ankafobe is located 132 km from the capital and is situated in the Analamanga region. A stop in the small village of Ambohimanarina to visit a clay coal stove manufacturing workshop. The manufacture of these stoves has indeed become the culture of the population living in this village. In addition to the agriculture and the breeding, the manufacture of this one is part of their livelihood. During this visit, you will discover the manufacturing process of the stove. Upon arrival, a walk in the forest is planned. During this walk, you will visit the nursery of the project. Afterwards, the first meeting with the brown lemurs will take place. Besides lemurs, 38 species of birds, 5 species of reptiles, 14 species of amphibians and three mammals live in the forest. After the visit, you will drive back to the capital.

After breakfast, you will set out for Antsirabe, through the highlands with their rice terraces. Passing picturesque villages, you will reach the important town of Antsirabe after a three-hour drive: center of trade, agriculture and industry. The mountain climate of 1500 m altitude and thermal springs once made the town a luxurious health resort. Today villas, lush gardens and the honorable colonial hotel still bear testimony to this. Nowhere else in Madagascar is it crowded with bicycle rickshaws, the so-called "pousse-pousse", as here. A city tour is highly recommended here. You will get an insight into the gemstones of Madagascar. A workshop of miniatures as well as an art gallery are among other things on the program.

It is one of the largest cities of Madagascar and is considered the capital of the Betsileo ethnic group. As you drive southward, today you will experience great adventures in Ranohira. On the way to Ihosy you will experience an impressive change from the terraced highlands to the dry region of the south with the enormous granite formation called "gate of the south". The journey into the land of the Baras will be shaped by cattle herds led by their shepherds. The Baras belong to one of the most original ethnic groups of Madagascar. Grass steppes are interrupted by imposing rocks and rivers and small villages sitting under mango trees. Past the Bishop’s hat, a holy place for the natives, you reach your today's destination over the rather treeless plateau of Ihorombe, the town of Ranohira in the Isalo Mountains. At the end of the afternoon you will enjoy the sunset through the "Window of Isalo"

You'll depart from your hotel to reach the port. From there, you will leave for Nosy Komba by speedboat. Nosy Komba is known as the second largest island after Nosy Be. Once arrived, you will visit the artisanal village of fishermen and its traditional pirogues with its embroidery and wood craft market. Then visit the mini discovery park, the boa constrictor, chameleons and other land turtles. For the macaco lemur it is the best place to see it. It will easily come to rest on your shoulder and be stroked. Continue with the excursion to Nosy Tanikely the protected underwater natural reserve. See beautiful aquatic hike which makes you discover a magnificent spectacle of corals and anemones, myriads of multicolored fish, crustaceans, groupers, moray eels and sea turtles.
