Day 2

Masai Mara

Masai Mara

Today, we have another great safari experience in Masai Mara, Kenya. You have a choice of an early morning and afternoon game drive, or a full-day game drive with lunch boxes on board.

Masai Mara National Reserve is home to a wide range of animal species. The most recognized (known as the African Big 5) includes the African elephant, Cape buffalo, rhinoceros, leopard, and the king of the beasts, the lion. The term Big 5 was coined by big-game hunters as these species were the most difficult and dangerous to track and hunt. Subsequently, the term was adopted by the tourism industry for marketing purposes, spinning a web of positivity as opposed to the negative effect portrayed by the original terminology.

Numerous other species of birds and wildlife inhabit this dynamic location including hyenas, gazelles, impalas, giraffes, zebras, vultures, cranes, eagles, falcons, and ostriches. All meals and your overnight stay will be at the Zebra Plains Camp.

A better representation of the circle of life cannot be displayed better anywhere than during this longest overland migration in the world. The journey commences in the South as they migrate to the North cutting through the park and into Masai Mara and returning to the Serengeti. Meals and overnight will be at the Serengeti Sametu Camp.

Day 5

Ngorongoro crater

Ngorongoro crater

After an early breakfast, drive toward the Ngorongoro Crater with your packed lunch. The crater is one of the largest intact volcanic calderas in the world, offering fabulous game viewing, and is one of the only such places in Africa. Large grazing animals such as wildebeest, buffalo, gazelle, and zebra (animals that depend on the open grasslands) are in the crater, attracting predators like the black-maned lion, leopard, and hyena. The elephants found here are the lone males. A soda lake attracts waterbirds, including flamingos, and is a suitable place for predators to make their kill. Wildly beautiful as it is, it is not surprising that the Ngorongoro Crater has been called the "Garden of Eden".
