Day 2

Serengeti National Park

Serengeti National Park

Waking up in the Serengeti is something really special. The sights, sounds, and smells of Africa are all around, and a full day of adventure in the world’s most famous national park awaits us.

The Serengeti ecosystem is home to the "Big Five" (lion, African elephant, Cape buffalo, leopard, and rhinoceros). The other main species include giraffe, zebra, antelope, Thompson’s and Grant’s gazelle, hippo, crocodile, and in season, the spectacular migration of the wildebeest. There are animals everywhere, vervet monkeys, olive baboons, and a great variety of birds, with a total of 505 species being documented so far.

If you look closely, you'll be thrilled with the huge jungle cats - lion, leopard, and cheetah. See animals in the trees, in the air, camouflaged in the bush, and in rivers and streams. The adventure of a lifetime!

We will break for a picnic lunch in the bush before returning to our tented camp at sunset for dinner and overnight.

Day 3

Ngorongoro Crater back to Arusha

Ngorongoro Crater back to Arusha

At sunrise, we will have breakfast and drive directly to the Ngorongoro Crater with our packed lunch box for a game drive on the crater floor. With its abundant water, excellent grazing, and natural protection from the densely vegetated crater walls, the crater provides shelter to over 25,000 animals, including the endangered black rhinoceros.

We descend 2,000 feet to the crater floor to explore this natural zoological park, and to observe an extraordinary variety of wildlife including elephant, lion, leopard, hyena, zebra, wildebeest, Thomson's gazelle, reedbuck, and buffalo. The lovely crested crane (similar to a peacock) can be found in great numbers here and maybe you'll even spot a bat-eared fox. The balance of predator and prey in this extraordinary ecosystem is so precise that animals seldom leave.

Lunch will be served at a picnic site inside the crater. In the afternoon, we drive out of the crater and proceed to Arusha to catch your flight to Zanzibar or back home.
