Day 1

On the first day of your safari, you will depart from Kampala very early in the morning and head to Jinja which is in the eastern part of Uganda. Arrive at the office of the rafting company and join the rest of the crew for a rafting adventure on the River Nile. You will then depart from Jinja and return to Kampala or Entebbe later in the evening. This return drive is to shorten the driving distance to Murchison Falls National Park the next morning.

Day 2

Drive to Murchison Falls via the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

Drive to Murchison Falls via the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

Today, you will depart from Kampala or Entebbe to the northern part of Uganda with a stop at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. This 70 sq km sanctuary is home to over 30 white rhinos and its main purpose is to reintroduce rhinos to Uganda. This is a very nice opportunity to observe the rhinos in their habitat at close range while on foot. After this, you will have a lunch stop and thereafter proceed to Murchison Falls National Park.

Day 3

Morning Game Drive & Boat Safari on the River Nile

You will wake up very early and set off at 6:30 am for a morning game drive on the northern bank and return to the lodge at around 11:00 am. You will have the opportunity to see baboons, buffaloes, giraffes, Uganda kobs, hartebeests, oribis, waterbucks, bushbucks, reedbucks, warthogs, and side-striped jackals. The carnivores include lions, leopards, and spotted hyenas.

After lunch, we will go to the jetty for an afternoon boat cruise on the River Nile where we can expect to see a number of hippos and crocodiles along the banks of the Nile. You will also see birds like goliath herons, Egyptian geese, pelicans, bee-eaters, kingfishers, hornbills, cormorants, saddle-billed storks, and the shoebill storks if you're lucky. After 2 hours, you will be dropped off at the bottom of the magnificent Murchison Falls. From there, you will hike up to the top of the falls where we will meet and thereafter drive back to the lodge.

Day 4

Drive to Kibale Forest National Park

Drive to Kibale Forest National Park

After an early breakfast, you will depart from Murchison Falls and proceed to Kibale Forest National Park. We always regard this route as a full-day drive, depending on the condition of the road. We may get to Kibale at around 4:00 pm which gives us a chance to go for a community walk to visit the crater lakes region with spectacular views of the lakes (optional).

You will wake up early for breakfast and thereafter proceed to the park headquarters in Kibale Forest National Park. After a short briefing by one of the park staff, you will be allocated a guide who will lead you into the forest to find the chimpanzees. This park is the only place in East Africa where one can have the best primate tracking to view the chimpanzee - man’s closest relative. After lunch, you will head out for the swamp walk which is very close to the park and home to a number of other primates and birds.

After breakfast, you will set off for Queen Elizabeth National Park. After lunch, you will have some rest and then go out for an evening game drive in the Kasenyi plains. Here, you can expect to see the Big 4 (elephant, buffalo, lion, and leopard) as well as bushbucks, kobs, giant forest hogs, hyenas, waterbucks, and many birds.

Morning Game Drive & Afternoon Boat Safari on the Kazinga Channel

You will wake up very early and set off at 6:30 am for a morning game drive with the aim of catching sight of the early risers in their natural habitat. You can expect to see the Big 4 (elephant, buffalo, lion, and leopard) as well as bushbucks, kobs, giant forest hogs, hyenas, waterbucks, and many birds.

After lunch, we will head to the jetty for an afternoon boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel that connects Lakes Edward and George. Expect to see a number of animals along the bank and a variety of waterbirds. It usually takes a maximum of 3 hours for the activity.

Today, you will set off quite early with a packed breakfast. Head out for an early morning game drive in the Kasenyi plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park to catch sight of the early risers. You can expect to see a number of elephants, buffaloes, lions, waterbucks, Uganda kobs, leopards, and hyenas. Thereafter, we will proceed to Bwindi Forest National Park.

Day 9

Gorilla Trekking Experience

We always regard this day to be the biggest of all days on the safari. After breakfast, we will head out to the park headquarters where you will be briefed by one of the park staff. You will then go with the lead guide who will take you into the forest to find the gorilla family that you will be allocated to. This may take between 2 and 7 hours, depending on how long the family you are trekking has moved from where it was last seen. Depending on how you feel, you may go out for an evening community walk through the villages very close to the forest.

You can also have an evening walk through the surrounding villages. There is also the option to go for a boat ride on the lake, visiting some of the islands.

Today, you will depart from Bwindi after breakfast and head to Lake Mburo National Park with a lunch stop in Mbarara. Thereafter, you will proceed for a game drive when we get to the park. You can expect to see zebras, impalas, kobs, buffaloes, giraffes, warthogs, and a variety of birds. In the evening, you will head out for a guided walking safari.

After breakfast, you will depart from Lake Mburo and proceed to Kampala or Entebbe with a lunch stop in Masaka. You will also stop at the equator for photos and to shop for souvenirs if you wish. You will then proceed to Kampala or Entebbe where you will spend your last night in Uganda. This will also mark the end of our memorable safari of a lifetime.
