On your arrival at the Kigali International Airport, you will be picked up by a Kubwa Five Safaris representative and transferred for the Covid-19 test (60$ per person). Continue to the city tour visiting the Genocide Memorial Site which gives a brief history of the country you are visiting. You will have lunch on the way.

After lunch, you will visit the community cultural village to enjoy the Rwandan culture including their traditional dance. Iby’iwacu Cultural Village is a non-profit umbrella organization that aims at improving the lives of reformed poachers and communities around Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park through the provision of conservation incentives, supporting community enterprise development and livelihood-based projects. Dinner and overnight will be at Red Rocks Rwanda.

After breakfast, you will drive to the Rwanda-Uganda border and then transfer to Lake Bunyonyi. The lake's twisting water body, dotted with 29 islands of various shapes and sizes scattered across the water, will amaze you.

Day 3

After breakfast, you will relax at your hotel until lunch time. Lake Bunyonyi is framed by lush, green-terraced hills that reach a height of 2,200 – 2,478m. It is probably the second-deepest lake in Africa. It is one of the few African lakes completely safe for swimming (there is no bilharzia). You will head out for zip lining, and thereafter return for lunch. You will either have lunch on the way or at your hotel.

After lunch, you will be driven to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home of the famous mountain gorillas. Check in at your lodge and prepare for yet another highlight of this amazing trip - tracking mountain gorillas!

Day 4

Gorilla Trekking, Birding | Batwa Cultural Interaction and Community Walk

After a cup of tea, head to the park's head offices with your guide for a briefing about the do’s and don’t's while in the park with the gorillas. You will then head out for the gorilla trekking through the misty rainforest. Trekking can take between 2 and 6 hours, depending on the location of the gentle giants. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is home to over 346 bird species, 120 mammal species, 400 plant species, and 27 frog species among others. It covers an area of 331 sq km. Make sure you carry enough water, sturdy shoes, non-flash cameras, and rain jackets. At the end of this long and exciting adventure, return to your lodge for a well-deserved shower, and then have lunch.

In the evening, you will head out for a community walk where you will visit the Batwa, which is an indigenous group of people that have lived in the forest for 500,000 years. Enjoy traditional dances and drama from them. Dinner and overnight will be at Gorilla Mist Camp.

After your breakfast, you will be driven to Kampala. You will have a stopover at the equator in Masaka. See where this imaginary line divides our planet into 2 equal hemispheres. Snacks, souvenirs and photographs may be taken here.

Dinner and overnight will be at Bushpig Backpackers Hostel.
