Chimpanzee trekking
Early in the morning after breakfast, you will go to the park headquarters where you will be briefed about the chimpanzee trekking. These primates are the closest relatives to human beings and they share 98% of their DNA with us. There are also many other primate species that will be seen along with the chimpanzees which include L’Hoest's monkeys, golden monkeys, and bush babies. The many bird species include the green-breasted pitta and the rumped tinker bird.
This park is one of the great rainforests in Africa and it has the largest community of chimpanzees where each community has 1 to 100 individuals. The chimps are located by simply listening for their pant-hooting calls, and we then head to the place from which they replied. You can observe them as they feed and play as well as socialize with each other. Later in the afternoon, you will visit the Bigodi Swamp which is also good for watching primates and birds.

Gorilla trekking
After an early morning breakfast, drive to the park headquarters where you will be briefed by the park rangers about what to do and not to do while in the park. You will be divided into groups of 8. You then continue with the gorilla trekking, searching for these gentle giants as directed by the rangers. It is a memorable and amazing experience watching the mountain gorillas feed, play around, and also go about their day-to-day activities. This activity can take 2 to 8 hours since it's dependent on the location and movement of the gorillas. You can also expect to walk long distances in muddy and steep conditions (you'll require a walking stick). On meeting the gorillas, you will spend 1 hour with them as you take photos. Later, you will return to the lodge.
