You will also find red colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, L'Hoest's monkeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys, and olive baboons. There is also a wide array of unique birds, forest elephants (smaller and hairier than the more familiar savannah elephants), and much more.

The forest is only accessible on foot and the walk will provide you with the opportunity to see a variety of other primates and animals. Upon sighting the chimpanzees, you will spend an unforgettable 1 hour with them as they go about their daily life in their natural habitat - feeding, playing, grooming, taking care of their young, howling, and screeching. Gorilla Trekking

Today is the long-awaited day! After the early morning preparations for the activity, pack your lunch, attend a briefing by the ranger guide, get hold of a walking stick and follow the ranger to the sanctuary. Trekking the mountain gorilla is a great experience. Don’t get too caught up with your camera or the anxiety of seeing the great apes for the first time. Concentrate on the great wave of emotions as you spend precious, once-in-a-lifetime moments with a mountain gorilla family. This is a highly-recommended activity while experiencing a safari in the "pearl of Africa".

Once you have found the gorillas, you will be able to spend an hour watching and learning from them. Your time in the forest cannot be pre-determined though, because every day is different from the previous based on weather patterns, gorilla movements, and other factors. On your return to your vehicle, you will proceed directly to the lodge.
