Johannesburg to an Affordable Game Lodge

We leave on your African safari from Johannesburg (pick-up from your accommodation or O.R. Tambo Airport). Pick-up is at 09h30 (at the latest) in a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle. The drive from Johannesburg takes 6 - 7 hours. Keep your cameras ready when entering the scenic Lowveld.

Hoedspruit Airport is the closest airport and pick-up is complimentary. Pick-up at Nelspruit Airport (MQP/KMIA) is at an additional charge and a 4-hour drive to the Hoedspruit Area.

We arrive at the affordable game lodge (your first night is at a different lodge). Rest in your air-conditioned chalet, swim in your private splash pool, walk around the beautiful gardens or unwind at the bar. Later in the afternoon, you will go out on your first exciting Big 5 sunset drive. Experienced game rangers will take you to amazing wildlife sightings. After this amazing drive, you will return for dinner, a bush braai (traditional meal) at the Marula Tree Boma.

Affordable Game Lodge to a Tented Lodge

After early morning coffee and light snacks, you will drive to the Olifants River for an amazing 4-hour bush walk with armed and experienced rangers. You will learn about the smaller inhabitants of the bush and about tracking and spoor identification. Adrenalin surges will be acute as signs of the Big 5 are everywhere.

After returning to the lodge for brunch, you will then be transferred to the luxury tented lodge where lunch will be served in the lapa after a rest or swim in your private splash pool.

After returning from the Motlala Game Reserve and a 3-hour Big 5 game drive, dinner will be served (according to your dietary requirements).

Full-day Game Drive in Kruger Park

After breakfast, you will drive around the Orpen/Satara regions of Kruger Park in an open-sided safari vehicle for a complete wildlife experience. You will not only view the Big 5 and birds, but also listen to and smell the African bush from an elevated position that allows for excellent photographic opportunities. This region of Kruger Park has a great concentration of wildlife and is well known for excellent Big 5 sightings.

Lunch is at your own expense on days away from the private game reserve. Take-out meals are recommended because eating out is seen as a special occasion in Africa (so it may take a while).

Dinner is a 3-course meal with South African cuisine (according to your dietary requirements) at your tented lodge.

Visit to an Animal Rehabilitation Centre and Moditlo Game Drive

After breakfast, you drive to the Moholoholo Rehabilitation Center where you will learn about their conservation efforts and interact with injured and orphaned animals. Returning from the center, lunch will be served at your tented lodge.

At approximately 15h00, you will drive to Tshukudu Game Reserve where you will enjoy high tea followed by a 3-hour game drive. The chances of finding the Big 5 in this enclosed reserve are very high.

After the drive, you will return to your tented lodge for dinner and overnight.

Johannesburg via Blyde River Canyon

Before driving back to Johannesburg, enjoy an early morning 1-hour bush walk with an armed ranger. After a hearty breakfast, we drive to the awesome Blyde River Canyon and stop at the Three Rondavels en route to Johannesburg only.

We will arrive between 17h00 and 18h00 (airport drop-off by arrangement).
