Day 1

Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Today, you will be picked up by our professional tour guide-driver from your accommodation in Kampala or Entebbe. Proceed on your journey to the famous Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a trip that crosses the equator line. This park is most famous for its rare mountain gorillas. The drive to the park is incredibly scenic, passing through various local villages and the lush green countryside and hills which characterize so much of southwestern Uganda.

The forest park is one of the richest ecosystems in Africa and the diversity of species is a feature of the park. It provides a habitat for some 120 species of mammals, 348 species of birds, 220 species of butterflies, 27 species of frogs, chameleons, geckos, and many endangered species. Floristically, Bwindi is among the most diverse forests in East Africa with more than 1,000 flowering plant species including 163 species of trees and 104 species of ferns.

Day 2

Gorilla Trekking

Gorilla Trekking

Today, you go trekking the rare mountain gorillas. After a briefing from your ranger guide at the UWA offices, you will begin trekking the mountain gorillas through the ancient Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. This can take a couple of hours or a whole day, depending on the location of the apes. Keep an eye out for forest species such as buffaloes, elephants, black-fronted duikers, and bushbucks. Remember to take your packed lunch with you.

It is a humbling experience to stand just meters from man’s distant cousins as they eat, rest, play, and bond with their young. Follow the mountain gorillas as they range freely in the impenetrable forest. Discover their gorgeous natural habitat and the many species they share it with. You will trek one of the gorilla groups close to your accommodation in Bwindi, depending on availability.

After a well-earned trip to the gorillas, you will retire to your accommodation for an overnight stay. You can rest your tired legs and enjoy a restorative massage.
