Day 1

Arusha - Tarangire National Park

Arusha - Tarangire National Park

After breakfast at your Arusha hotel, your safari guide will pick you up at 7:30 am and proceed to the huge Tarangire National Park. As you stand at the park gate and look south, it stretches as far as the eye can see. Known as the "elephants' playground", this phenomenal park contains huge herds of these mighty mammals. Tarangire is also home to buffalo, lion, wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle, and the park can rival Serengeti for its sheer animal densities.

Today, you might spot a solitary male lion stretched out beneath a tree, or perhaps a trio of male cheetahs enjoying some lazy bonding time in the sun. Perhaps you'll see some graceful Grant’s gazelle or zebra bound away from the road, or a couple of giraffes munching happily from the acacia branches. For Tarangire's specialties, look out for kudu and oryx.

In the late afternoon at around 4 pm, you leave the park and drive to the comfort of your lodge.

Serengeti National Park

After breakfast at around 7 am, we depart to the famous Serengeti National Park. Our journey takes us west and north to our exciting destination - a name familiar to everyone – the Serengeti! Along the way, the sheer scale of the territory and the raw beauty of the landscapes reveal themselves as your driver-guide will help you to spot animals and birds. The Serengeti is home to what is possibly the world’s greatest gathering of wildlife.

After enjoying a picnic lunch, you’ll be eager to pursue some more great wildlife-spotting opportunities in this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Set in the grasslands, savannahs, woods, and mountain scenery, which creature will show itself next? These "endless plains" are home to elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard, cheetah, hippo and crocodile. The adventure has truly begun. At the end of the afternoon, exhausted and exhilarated, it’s back to your luxury accommodation for dinner and to talk about the many fantastic experiences you’ve had today.

More action in the Serengeti Plains - Karatu

The exciting sounds of Africa will rouse you from your sleep. We make the most of the day with an early start, heading off on our morning game drive. Later, the adventure will continue when we travel up to Ngorongoro and then to Karatu.

It’s almost impossible to spend too much time in Serengeti. With more than 1.6 million herbivores and thousands of predators, there’s always something new and interesting to see. The myriad animals and birds are the stars of the show and nature’s dramas can unfold at any time. Of course, the animals don’t work to any schedule, so we may find lion, leopard, elephant, zebra, cheetah, or antelope at any time on our drives.

After a pleasant picnic lunch, it’s time to drive eastwards toward Ngorongoro. On arrival, settle into the comfort of your luxury lodge while a tasty, hot dinner is prepared for you.

Today, we start early at around 7:30 am as we find our way to the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater. We have plenty of time to enjoy another true spectacle. The Ngorongoro Crater is often referred to as a Wonder of the World and your game drives in the crater will show you why. You will have 6 to 7 hours of game drives in the crater.

Firstly, you will explore the world's largest volcanic caldera full of grassland, forest, and swamp, a setting of jaw-dropping beauty. Secondly, the permanent water of the crater floor supports a resident population of more than 25,000 large mammals. Here, you'll find many of the reasons you chose to come on safari because there is a very high possibility to spot all of the Big 5 within one day. Elephant, lion, leopard, hyena, jackal, hippo, waterbuck, baboon, and even the rare black rhino find shelter here. In the late afternoon, after a full day of game drives, we ascend the crater and drive to your lodge for a hot shower, dinner and overnight.
