The ecosystem provides for about 56 different species of mammals including the white rhino, buffalo, and a variety of terrestrial birds numbering nearly 450 species. The park is truly remarkable as it has achieved international fame as an animal sanctuary where both black and white rhinos are being given a new lease on life in this park.

Day 4

Explore Mara

Explore Mara

This is a day of unlimited game drives - one in the morning before breakfast and the other in the late afternoon. Early mornings and late afternoons are considered the best times to spot animals as they are most active. To get some of the best game viewing of the day, an early start is needed. This is the time that the big cats are most active and can provide some of the most dramatic photography, thanks to the beautiful lighting. If you are fortunate enough, you will catch lions during one of their rare bouts of daytime activities and it’ll be fascinating to watch the social interaction between pride members, especially the playful ways of lion cubs under the watchful eyes of their mothers.

An optional hot-air balloon safari can be arranged at an extra cost. Your guide will then take you to the nearby Maasai village after breakfast where you will get a chance to see the Maasai way of life (optional). Return to the camp for lunch before setting out for an evening game drive.
