After an early breakfast, we will descend 600 meters to the crater floor. The Ngorongoro Crater is a self-dependent ecosystem, home of carnivores and herbivores. If lucky, we might see the Big Five (lion, leopard, rhino, elephants, and buffaloes) in the crater. We will see several water birds at Magadi Lake, including beautiful flamingoes, herons, and pelicans. The Lerai Forest is home to baboons, monkeys, elephants, bushbucks, waterbucks, and even leopards! The crater floor is 260 square kilometers, and the Munge River is the source of freshwater in the area. We will see hippopotami around the swamp area and other animals grazing in the open areas. In the afternoon, we will have lunch at a picnic site where hippos are often seen nearby. After lunch, we will ascent the crater and drive to Arusha or the airport with a last game drive en route.
