Day 1
Arusha - Tarangire National Park - Karatu
Arusha - Tarangire National Park - Karatu
Tarangire National Park, established from a former colonial hunting reserve in 1970, remains largely untouched and offers a rich variety of wildlife. At its heart lies the Tarangire River, a vital water source where large herds of elephants often gather. The park, about the size of Luxembourg, is also home to giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, impalas, Grant’s gazelles, warthogs, and baboons. With a bit of luck, you might spot predators like lions, leopards, or cheetahs. The landscape is strikingly diverse, featuring sweeping savannahs and iconic baobab trees, which attract a range of wildlife.
After an exciting game drive, you’ll continue to the small town of Karatu, located on the outer slopes of the Ngorongoro Crater. Here, you’ll spend the night in a simple yet cozy lodge. Rest well—you’ll depart for Lake Eyasi shortly after sunrise.

Day 2
Karatu - Lake Eyasi - Arusha
Karatu - Lake Eyasi - Arusha
After an early breakfast around 6:00 AM, you will set off for Lake Eyasi, a scenic drive of just over an hour.
Begins with a visit to the Hadzabe, East Africa’s last true hunter-gatherers. Approximately 700–800 Hadzabe live in small, nomadic groups around the lake, maintaining a lifestyle that closely resembles that of our Stone Age ancestors. They hunt using handmade bows and arrows, and gather fruits, roots, and wild honey—often from towering baobab trees. After a warm welcome and a glimpse into their village life, you’ll join a few of the men on a traditional hunt. The experience is dynamic and fast-paced, especially when prey is sighted. The Hadzabe hunt a range of animals including antelope, birds, and even mongooses.
Later in the morning, you will visit the Datoga tribe—pastoralists known for their blacksmithing skills. Watch as they transform scrap metal into tools and jewelry, and step inside a traditional hut to see how women grind corn flour used to bake bread.
