Pick up from your hotel in Arusha at around 07:30am and drive on a tarmac road 120Km (2 hours) to Lake Manyara NP (330 Km2). The park has a massive but shallow soda lake located at the foot of the Great Rift Valley’s western escarpment. The varied habitat attracts a wide variety of animals, including one of Africa’s largest concentrations of elephants, Manyara’s unique tree-climbing lions, as well as large flocks of flamingos. Manyara is a scenic gem, with a setting extolled by Ernest Hemingway as “the loveliest I had seen in Africa”. From the entrance gate, along the roadside, blue monkeys scamper nimbly between the ancient mahogany trees, dainty bush buck tread warily through the shadows, and out sized forest horn bills honk cacophonous in the high canopy. Serengeti National Park - Ngorongoro Crater Rim
Distance: 145km, ETA: 3 hours
Wildlife Viewing Time: 5 hours
Activities: Game Drives
We start the game drive first thing early in the morning after a cup of coffee. You will find the Serengeti at its most active at this time. This is when Africa can reveal its cool side so you should wrap up warm (we aim to be on the road before the sun rises). Few predators hunt during the heat of the day, so the early morning is the best time to observe the thrill of the chase. It is also a magical time, with the subtle light dappling the landscape, the birds awakening and the sense of a great adventure beginning to unfold. We'll return to the camp for a brunch, and depart for Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Dinner and Overnight at Ngorongoro Campsite. Meal Plan: {B, L, D}.

After an early morning breakfast, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater. The Ngorongoro Crater (19.2km of diameter, 610m deep, and 304 sq km) is one of the most densely crowded wildlife areas in the world and is home to some of Tanzania’s last remaining black rhinos. Its huge population of predators is another big draw card to this picturesque crater. Supported by a year-round water supply and fodder, this breathtaking oasis provides a haven for both predator and prey to live among grasslands. After game drives, drive to the camp for the overnight. Meal Plan: B, L, D.
