Savor a morning breakfast while preparing for a full-day game drive in the reserve, which was initially established as a wildlife sanctuary in 1948 and later converted into a Game Reserve in 1961. The Mara boasts mostly open, flat grassland adorned with long, slender grass and dotted with acacia trees. The western boundary of the Mara is marked by the Esoit Escarpment, a geological fault line. The Sand, Talek, and Mara rivers are the main waterways draining the area, and it is at their crossings that the iconic scenes of the great migration are often witnessed.

Relish a picnic lunch within the reserve as you continue your game drive, on the lookout for wildlife including the Big five.
