Nairobi to Maasai Mara National Reserve

The tour begins in the morning with a drive through the dramatic Great Rift Valley to the Maasai Mara National Reserve. This enormous reserve is actually part of the vast Serengeti plains, famous for its spectacular wildebeest migration and also home to the Big Five: lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo and rhino.

You will have lunch at the Camp and relax before departing for the afternoon game run through one of the greatest wildernesses of the world. Large mammals are plentiful, varied and easy to see. Resident animals include Masai Giraffe, buffalo, eland and thousands of plain game including impala, zebra, topi, Thomson’s gazelle and Grant's gazelle.

Dinner and overnight rest will be taken at the camp.

Maasai Mara National Reserve

After an early breakfast, we spend the full day driving across the plains of the Maasai Mara National Reserve in search of big cats (black-maned lions, cheetahs and leopards), with a picnic lunch served at the Mara River. Vast herds of wildebeest and zebra wander across the Mara grasslands during the annual migrations, traversing the landscape to feed on the rich new grass.

On return to the camp in the late afternoon, you can go on an optional guided walking tour with Maasai tribespeople to learn their traditions and perhaps even have a dance with them.

Dinner and overnight rest will be taken at the camp.

Maasai Mara National Reserve to to Nairobi
