Embarking on an early morning journey towards Masai Mara National Reserve, you'll find yourself entering one of the last bastions where wildlife thrives relatively undisturbed. Here, amidst the expansive plains and dense forests of Africa, the natural order remains largely untouched. Positioned at the northern edge of the vast Serengeti ecosystem, the Mara plays host to the breathtaking annual migration of countless wildebeest, zebras, and their accompanying predators.

Masai Mara National Reserve
Two full days of exhilarating game drives, each accompanied by a packed lunch. Masai Mara National Reserve is renowned for its majestic black-manned lions, alongside a wealth of resident wildlife. It stands as one of the rare locales where encountering the big five—lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and rhinoceros—during a single morning's outing is entirely feasible.
Remarkably, some cheetahs within the reserve are so accustomed to human presence that they seek shade beneath vehicles to escape the scorching sun. A few even venture atop vehicles for a superior vantage point in their hunt for prey. For avid birdwatchers, the reserve is a paradise, boasting nearly 500 recorded species. Among these avian treasures are 16 varieties of eagles, along with an array of hawks, falcons, vultures, storks, and bustards—including the remarkable Kori bustard, the heaviest flying bird on Earth. Additionally, nine species of sunbirds grace the skies, adding to the avian spectacle that awaits.

Lake Nakuru National Park
An early morning pick up then drive to Lake Nakuru National Park.
Known all over the world for its flamingoes, it's alkaline and is recognized as being one of the natural wonders of the world. Lake Nakuru is now a rhino sanctuary, harboring a population of over 40 black and over 60 white rhinos, but the flamingoes, of course, have always been the main attraction. At times there may be almost 2million flamingoes in the residence, forming a stunningly beautiful deep pink band around the edge of the lake shore.
Arrive in time for lunch then have an afternoon game drive.

Lake Bogoria National Reserve
Morning drive to Lake Bogoria. While the abundance of wildlife is notable, many creatures prefer to keep a low profile, except for the flamingos congregating around the hot springs.
Among the diverse species that call this area home are buffalo, hyena, klipspringer, impala, dik-dik, zebra, warthog, and Grant's gazelle. However, the elusive greater kudu may make an appearance almost anywhere, adding to the thrill of the adventure.
The flamingos, for some curious reason – possibly chemical – tend to flock in their greatest numbers to the shallows on the western shore, where the hot springs flow into the lake (they appear immune to the heat). The Bogoria fish eagles have made a gruesome adjustment to their fierce, fishless environment: they prey on flamingos.
As you explore, keep an eye out for other avian delights such as avocets, transient pelicans, and migratory steppe eagles, adding to the rich tapestry of birdlife in this extraordinary habitat.
