After breakfast at the lodge, you will depart with packed picnic lunch boxes for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You are scheduled to arrive at the gates around 8:30 AM, where you can begin to appreciate the majesty of one of the largest intact calderas in the world.
From there, you will descend to the crater floor for a full day of game watching. This wonderful caldera is home to the "Big Five"—rhinos, lions, leopards, buffalo, and elephants—as well as zebras, hippos, wildebeest, and hyenas. You will also have the opportunity to view spectacular birdlife, including flamingos on the Soda Lake, geese, storks, and vultures.
You will enjoy your lunch at the picnic site at Ngoitoktok swamp near the hippo pool. Afterward, you will continue the safari as you ascend the crater. At the end of the day, you will return to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.
