Arrive in Blantyre to meet your Land & Lake guide, here you will be transferred your lodge to relax and unwind and meet the other tour participants. At dinner, we have a tour briefing and go over the plans for the next day. If time allows; head into Blantyre to pick up any last-minute items, you might need for the journey.

Blantyre to Majete Wildlife Reserve

Depart Blantyre after breakfast, stopping for any last things in town before we head out. We'll drive down into the lower Shire Valley to Majete Reserve. Aiming to arrive at your camp in time for lunch. Afternoon game drive with Thawale lodge in their open game viewing vehicle. Overnight Lodge on full board and activities inclusive basis.

Exploring Majete

This morning is a typical day on safari - wake up early for a light breakfast and then head out for a morning game drive to explore the park with Thawale. We'll return for lunch and relax during the heat of the day before heading back out again after afternoon tea for an evening game drive and sundowners. Retuning back to the lodge for dinner. Night at Thawale including all your meals and activities.

Majete to Thyolo

After breakfast drive back to Blantyre. If time allows, we'll do a brief city tour, exploring some of Blantyre's historical highlights. Stop at a local café for lunch at your own cost and then we'll continue for just over an hour to Game Haven. Overnight Lodge on Dinner, bed and breakfast basis.

Tea Time

A more leisurely start to the day, then we drive for 1/2 hr to Satemwa Tea Estate for a tour of the farm,
followed by a tea tasting experience and then a delightful lunch in the gardens of Huntingdon House -
A colonial house with a rich history. Return to Game Haven after lunch for an afternoon at leisure to
enjoy some of the activities on offer. Overnight Lodge on dinner, bed and breakfast basis.

Thyolo to Zomba Plateau

It’s a 2/3 hr drive with stops to our next overnight in the well-appointed Ku Chawe Inn on Zomba
Plateau, Malawi's old Capital. We'll stop off in a local restaurant for lunch at your cost and then have an afternoon walk on the plateau along the Mulunguzi stream or for the active, up to the nearby fire tower for superb views of the plains below - Overnight hotel on dinner, bed and breakfast basis.

Zomba to Lake Malawi

Its an interesting drive from Zomba, heading Northward with stops along the route to Cape Maclear - visit a very unusual and historical tree, craft stalls, fishing villages with a local lunch in Mangochi. Arrival in Cape Maclear is midafternoon in time to enjoy a sundowner on the beach. Overnight Lodge on dinner, bed and breakfast basis.

Depart Lake Malawi and Chembe and it’s a 3 hr drive to Malawi's cultural epicenter - Mua Mission. The afternoons
activity includes a museum visit and a cultural experience which includes traditional dances. Overnight

Mua Mission to Dzalanyama Forest

After breakfast, we continue up the escarpment for a couple of hours to Dedza and visit the pottery and coffee shop. Dedza is famous for its cheesecake! From here it’s a couple of hours drive to Dzalanyama Forest. Overnight Lodge on Full board basis.

Dzalanyama Community

Continuing with our community theme, today we visit a local village and community to experience the real Malawi way of life - you will eat local food, taste / drink [for the brave] some of their local brews, visit families and then help with our local bamboo project that we have been running for a number of years. Return to the lodge midafternoon - Overnight Lodge on dinner, bed and breakfast basis.

To Zambia

We'll head out of the forest after breakfast and make our way West to the Zambian border. Its 2 hrs to the Zambia border then 3 hrs to Luangwa Valley. Picnic lunch en route and arrival is early afternoon. A game drive is available this afternoon for those that wish. Overnight Lodge on dinner, bed and breakfast basis.

The End

You can either fly out of Mfuwe to Lusaka for your international flight home. Or, included is a road transfer from South Luangwa back to Lilongwe. Accommodation is not included and it will not be possible to catch a flight before 4pm on this day from Lilongwe.
