Day 1

Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Arusha to Tarangire National Park

We will pick you up from your hotel, and after being introduced to your tour guide and chef, we will drive to Tarangire National Park (a two-hour drive), famous for its diverse landscape. The park is particularly known for the abundance of ancient baobab trees and having the largest concentration of elephants in the whole country! You will have an excellent chance to observe the interaction between elephant families. We will do a game drive through the park depending on where they have reported sightings of animals. Predators such as lions, cheetahs and leopards are more challenging to spot than herbivores such as giraffes, wildebeest, and zebras, as they are plentiful throughout the park.

Later, we will go to the Tarangire River picnic site and enjoy the view of the river and animals while having lunch. Small monkeys and baboons will try to scare you off your lunch, but there is nothing to worry about. After lunch, we will proceed with the game drive and exit the park around 4:30pm.

Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha

Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha

Ngorongoro Crater has volcanic soil supporting many habitats, making seeing the Big Five possible in a single day. Inside the park is Lake Makat (meaning Soda Lake in Masai), which provides a home for many birds.

Apart from that, the park is well known for many Masai families living in their circular-shaped bomas. Furthermore, it is a must for anyone wishing to explore the history of human evolution pioneered by Leakey's family.

Animals expected to spot are lions, buffalo, wildebeest, many birds, zebras, hippos, gazelle, jackal, fox and other wild dogs, eland, waterbuck, serval, and ungulates. Absentees are giraffes, cheetahs, leopards, and elephants, which are rarely seen at the crater rim.

Later in the evening, you will be driven to Arusha and dropped at your hotel.

Arusha to Materuni Waterfalls and Coffee Tour

Materuni is the home of the Chagga community and is still an authentic village. This charming place is just 15km from Moshi Town and the last village before the Kilimanjaro National Park. Our English-speaking guide will pick you up in the morning and drive you to Materuni Village. Upon arrival, you will register at the village office, and your trip can begin. First, you will visit the waterfalls around a 40-minute walk away. On the way, your guide will inform you about the culture of the Chagga and village life and explain the surrounding fauna and flora. The views are truly breathtaking, and with some luck, you will see the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. After everything, you will have a coffee tour and make your own coffee! Finally, prepare to go back to Arusha or the airport.
