Depart to Mikindani

After breakfast, depart to Mikindani, take break for hot lunch on the way. Continue drive and Check in at Old Boma Mikindani for dinner and overnight.

A national monument, the Old Boma is a 100 year old fort, beautifully restored into a comfortable hotel with up to date facilities, whilst retaining its original features and charm. It is located on the side of a hill overlooking the Indian Ocean, providing breathtaking views from dawn to dusk. The spacious guest-rooms are furnished with hand-carved beds, Tinga Tinga paintings and other local handicrafts and are kept cool by high ceilings and thick walls, coupled with ceiling fans. Most rooms have a balcony with a sea or jungle view. Hotel facilities include a large swimming pool surrounded by Frangipani and Flame trees.

Visit Mikindani Mtwara

Two day visit Mikindani Town. Meals and overnight at The Old Boma at Mikindani.

Diving is available at the nearby eco2, a fully equipped dive centre which operates a fitted fibreglass dive boat and traditional African sailing dhow. The dive centre follows the highest standard of safety procedures. VHF radios provide communication between dive boats and the shore and a full medical kit, oxygen unit and life jackets are kept onboard each boat. The dive centre has full liability insurance and is a member of the Diver Alert Network. Snorkelling and diving is conducted outside of Mikindani Bay and inside the Mnazi Bay-Ruvuma Estuary Marine Park. Normally they dive twice a day although a third dive or a night dive can be arranged. Diving in the marine park incurs a $10 per day entry fee. Training is provided for all padi scuba courses up to instructor level.

Depart back to Dar es Salaam

After breakfast, enjoy the town in the morning. Then later depart back to Dar es Salaam, drop off at the hotel or take you back to the airport back home.
