Set on the Lake Victoria shore 40km south of the capital Kampala, Entebbe provides a rewarding introduction to Uganda for wildlife enthusiasts. Our next stop is Moroto, a small and unassuming town that nonetheless serves as the largest urban outpost in the vast badlands of Karamoja. The town has an attractive setting at the base of Mt Moroto, which rises to 3,084m on the eastern skyline. It will take you about 5 hours so you arrive in time for lunch if you set off from Sipi early. Stay 2 nights at Karatunga Safari Camp.

Local specialties include cheetah, eland (the world’s largest antelope), patas monkey and the lovely rose-ringed parakeet.

Today we have a short visit to Gulu market and then head to Murchison Falls National Park, which is Uganda's largest conservation area and one of its most rewarding overall safari destinations. Wildlife viewing activities focus on the Nile River, a mesmerizing tropical waterway that supports impressive concentrations of hippo, crocodile and aquatic birds, and attracts plenty of other thirsty wildlife, from elephants and buffaloes to giraffes and antelope. The park is named after its scenic highlight: an explosive waterfall formed by the Nile as it siphons through a narrow crack in the Rift Valley escarpment. Go on an afternoon game drive in the Park. Early Morning Mountain Gorilla Trekking, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Rise and shine today will probably be a very long walking day trekking the Gorillas. You will have to drive for about an hour to get to the start. Mountain gorillas are one of the world’s most endangered apes. It is estimated that there are only 800 mountain gorillas left in the wild. Almost half of the worlds’ population of mountain gorillas can be found in Bwindi National Park in Uganda. The spine-tingling feeling that you get being so near to one of our closest relatives in the animal kingdom is hard to describe.

Part of the ancient Ankole Kingdom, Lake Mburo National Park is conveniently located halfway between Kampala and the Gorilla Highlands of southwest Uganda. Lake Mburo itself is home to large numbers of hippo and aquatic birds including the localized African finfoot.
