Liuwa Camp

Liuwa Camp

Game drives - morning and afternoon/evening drives

Liuwa Plain hosts the second largest wildebeest migration in Africa - but without the crowds -so you can enjoy this spectacle in an intimate and jaw-dropping setting.

Liuwa was home to the famous Lady Liuwa – a famous lioness who was the sole survivor after all of the lions had been poached out. Today, due to reintroduction efforts, she has left behind a small but growing pride of lions after her passing in 2017.

Liuwa’s wildlife diversity is stunning. Along with the spectacular wildebeest migration, there are cheetahs, hyaenas, lions, eland, tsessebe and an incredible array of birds including the wattled crane.

Day 4

Liuwa to Kafue National Park

Liuwa to Kafue National Park

Today you will drive from Liuwa Camp to Mukambi Safari Lodge which is approx 8 hour drive.
Kafue is about the diversity of wildlife.

Kafue is home to more species of ungulate than any national park south of the Congo Basin. Rare and elusive antelope such as blue and yellow-backed duikers occur in the thickets, sitatunga and lechwe in the swamps, roan, sable and hartebeest in the miombo woodlands.

The park is as one of the best places in Africa to find leopard. In certain areas and times they are often seen, especially on night-drives (allowed in the Kafue) and even from afternoon boat cruises along the Kafue River in the hotter months when they come down to drink.

Cheetah are found throughout the Kafue, from Nanzhila in the south to Busanga in the north.

The African wild dog is a highly sought-after sighting; these exceptionally rare and elusive predators have the largest population of this species compared to any other national park in Africa.

Main Destination:
Kafue National Park
Best Time To Visit July to October (Animals are easier to find)
High Season July to October (Higher rates apply; busier)
