Day 1

Our safari guide will warmly welcome you on arrival at the airport or your Nairobi hotel and begin the scenic drive north to Samburu National Reserve. The journey takes you through Kenya’s remote Northern Frontier District, a wild and rugged landscape of striking beauty. Samburu’s arid savannahs are brought to life by the graceful Ewaso Ng’iro River, creating a sanctuary for rare wildlife found only north of the equator reticulated giraffes, Grevy’s zebras, Beisa oryx, gerenuk gazelles, and both greater and lesser kudus. Arrive in time for lunch and check in at your selected camp. After a short rest, set out for your first thrilling game drive, exploring the reserve as the sun sets. Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay at Ashnil Samburu Camp.

After breakfast, depart Samburu National Reserve for Ol Pejeta Conservancy, enjoying a scenic drive and arriving in good time for lunch and a short rest. In the afternoon, set out on an enriching game drive, highlighted by a visit to the Chimpanzee Sanctuary, a remarkable haven established by the Jane Goodall Institute to care for rescued and orphaned chimpanzees. You will also explore the conservancy’s specially protected black rhino sanctuary, home to an impressive population of these magnificent and rare animals. As the day comes to an end, return for dinner and an overnight stay at Maisha Sweetwater's Camp.

After breakfast, depart Sweetwater's and journey toward the floor of the Great Rift Valley. Along the way, enjoy a brief stop at Nyahururu (Thomson’s) Falls, named after Joseph Thomson, one of the first European explorers to walk from Mombasa to Lake Victoria in the 1880s. Continue on to Lake Nakuru National Park, arriving at your lodge in time for lunch. In the afternoon, set out for a rewarding game drive. Beyond the lake’s famous flamingos, over 400 bird species visit the area, making it a paradise for birdwatchers. The park is also home to a remarkable variety of wildlife, including the introduced Rothschild’s giraffe, black and white rhino, waterbuck, reedbuck, lion, buffalo, leopard, baboon, and numerous plains game. Return to Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
