Transfer to Akagera National Park & Boat Cruise
After breakfast, you’ll travel to Akagera National Park, which was first set up in 1934 to protect the area around the Kagera River. In the late 1990s, more than half of the park was resettled due to the arrival of refugees. Since then, the park has been recovering well. Strong conservation efforts, the return of lions and black rhinos, better camps, and natural scenery are now bringing more visitors.
When you arrive, enjoy a boat ride on Lake Ihema. You may see hippos, crocodiles, birds, and other animals along the riverbank. After the boat trip, you’ll go to your lodge for dinner and spend the night there.

Full Day Game Drive in Akagera
Depending on how much time you want to spend watching animals, you can choose how long your game drive will be in Akagera National Park. Start your day early and go for a game drive after breakfast. Your experienced driver-guide will take you along different routes, giving you good chances to see animals in the park.
Watch out for large animals like elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, topi, zebras, and impala. Lions and rhinos have also been brought back to the park. They can be hard to find, but you might be lucky.
