Transfer to Akagera National Park & Boat Cruise

After breakfast, you'll head to Akagera National Park, originally established in 1934 to protect the Kagera River surroundings. Despite a setback when over half of the park was resettled due to refugee influx in the late 1990s, Akagera is making a remarkable recovery. Strict conservation, reintroduction of lions and black rhinos, camp improvements, and scenic landscapes are drawing visitors.

Upon arrival, enjoy a boat cruise on Lake Ihema, spotting hippos, crocs, birds, and other riverbank wildlife. Later, transfer to your accommodation in the northern sector of the park for dinner and an overnight stay.

Full Day Game Drive in Akagera

Depending on your interest in animal viewing, you can choose the duration of your game drive in Akagera National Park. Start your day early and embark on a game drive after breakfast. Your knowledgeable driver-guide will lead you through various tracks, providing you with fantastic opportunities to observe the park's wildlife.

Keep a lookout for impressive mammals such as elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, topi, zebras, and impala. Although lions and rhinos have been reintroduced to the park, spotting them can be challenging, but luck may be on your side. The park offers diverse habitats for wildlife and is a paradise for birdwatchers, boasting over 500 bird species.

You'll have both morning and evening game drives, with a break for lunch at your accommodation facility.
